BROOMFIELD, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University women's golf team posted a matching score of 314 (+26) in the second round of the Swan Memorial Tournament on Tuesday to finish in a tie for seventh place in the final standings of the 36-hole, 2-day tournament played here at Broadlands Golf Course.
The Mavs, who had recorded the same score in Monday's first round, finished at 628 (+52).
Maverick veterans
Payton Panzeri and
Brittlynn O'Dell also matched their Monday performances, posting identical 5-over par rounds of 77 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for 25
th place at 154 (+10).
Senior
Cassidy Phelan finished Tuesday's second round with a score of 81 and was in a 28th place tie overall at 155 (+11). She had carded a solid round of 74 (+2) to lead the Mavs' Monday effort.
After being disqualified for signing an incorrect score card on Monday, freshman
Hunter Gledhill fared well on Tuesday, posting a round of 79 (+7) to contribute to the Mavs' team score.
Freshman
McKenzie Dolph rounded out the Maverick effort, carding her second consecutive round of 86 (+14) and finished in 64th place at 172 (+28).
Newcomer
Mackenzie Goudreau also competed as an individual in the tournament, tying for 54
th at 165 (+21). She posted an 81 on Tuesday after recording an 84 on Monday.
Defending Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Champion CSU Pueblo won the tournament by nine shots with a 36-hole score of 582 (+6). The ThunderWolves were 1-under par at 287 in Tuesday's second round.
Cal State LA and Angelo State tied for second at 591 (+15).
Angelo State's Johanna Ohrling was the individual medalist at -3 (141). She was two shots behind runner-up Alyssa McMillen of CSU Pueblo. McMillen was tied for the tournament lead after posting 70 on Monday before slipping back a spot with a round of 73 (+1) on Tuesday. Ohrling carded a 69 (-3) on Tuesday to record the win.
The Mavericks will resume their season Sept. 22-23 at the Wasatch Invitational in South Jordan, Utah.
