Anderson, Viger Earn USA Lacrosse All-America Honors

SPARKS, Md. – For the first time in program history, CMU women's lacrosse has multiple USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American honorees, with sophomore attacker Justine Anderson and redshirt senior defender Kelsey Viger both earning honorable mention selections.

Anderson and Viger garnered All-America consideration after previously winning the RMAC Attacker and Defender of the Year awards, respectively, while also both making the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)'s All-Midwest Region teams.

This is the first career All-America honor for Anderson, while Viger extends her program record with her fourth career All-America selection, two apiece from the IWLCA and USA Lacrosse Magazine in 2023 and 2024.

Anderson scored 54 goals this season and led the RMAC with 3.18 goals per game. Anderson scored six or more goals in four separate games this season – with six against Rockhurst, UCCS and Dominican and seven against Fort Lewis. With 81 career goals, Anderson is tied for seventh on CMU's all-time goalscoring list despite having just two seasons under her belt.

The sophomore now becomes just the fourth individual Maverick to become an All-American, joining Olivia Hayden (USILA, 2019), Erin Koehler (USILA, 2019) and Viger (4x). Anderson has already earned First Team All-RMAC plaudits in each of her two collegiate seasons thus far and secured a Second Team All-Region honor last month.

Viger led the RMAC and ranked seventh in Division II with 2.80 caused turnovers per game and had 42 total caused turnovers for the Mavericks in 2024. She also ranked 28th in Division II with 3.07 ground balls per game.

Viger's second consecutive selection puts a bow on an outstanding on-field career for the Savage, Minnesota native. This season, Viger became the program's all-time career caused turnovers leader with 147, passing Hayden's mark of 130, and also ranks second in CMU history with 161 ground balls, passing Koehler for second during this year's RMAC Tournament.

The defender is a four-time All-American, three-time First Team All-RMAC selection, two-time First Team All-Region selection and two-time RMAC Defensive Player of the Year, the most honors in program history for all four.

Colorado Mesa was one of two RMAC teams represented on the USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America teams. Regis – who defeated CMU in the RMAC Tournament championship game and advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament – had four All-Americans in midfielder Bailey Truex (2nd team), midfielder Maggie Schipfer (3rd team), midfielder Megan Bunker (HM) and goalie Elizabeth Myotte (HM).

USA Lacrosse Magazine All-Americans were chosen by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors with input from coaches and conferences across the country.
