FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.— Colorado Mesa University junior
Kenya Meyer completed the requirements to earn a third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Pre-Championship Diving Qualification meet in March as she finished 12
th in a field of 34 women in the 1-meter springboard competition at the Lumberjack Diving Invitational.
Meyer scored 510.15 points in her 12 total dives here at Northern Arizona University's Wall Aquatic Center, tallying 258.95 points in the final round of six dives to surpass the necessary qualification standard of 255 points. She now has achieved such a score at two different meets this season, which is required to be able to make the trip to Indianapolis for the Mar. 11 meet. That event will then set the diving field for the official 2025 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships, which begin later that evening.
Meyer is the first Maverick woman to book a trip this year joining four Maverick men.
The Bozeman, Montana native was in 10
th place after the preliminary round of six dives with a score of 251.20 points.
Teammate
Jenna Hurley also qualified for finals, standing 16
th after the preliminaries with 237.55 points. She remained in that spot at the end of the day, scoring 246.10 points in her final six dives.
The top 18 women in the preliminaries advanced to the finals and the scores from both 6-dive segments were added together to determine the final places.
Five other Maverick women also competed on Saturday .
Talia Datilio, who had led the Mavs in Thursday's 3-meter event, just missed out on the finals, placing 19
th with 226.25 points.
Emma Lence finished 21
st with 220.50 points while
Mimi Licht was just behind her, scoring 218.30 points to take 22
nd.
Tori Nguyen also finished 26
th with 209.65 points while
Juli Holt placed 29
th with 206.65 points.
The CMU men did not dive on Saturday during the platform event.
The Mavericks will now take some time off for the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to competition at the Dec. 16-18 UNLV Invitational.
