PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team closed competition on Tuesday (Oct. 8) afternoon at the CSU Pueblo Fall Invitational at Pueblo Country Club.
Colorado Mesa shot three strokes better in round two to finish with a 313 and a 629 overall to finish in fourth place. They couldn't climb ahead of anyone on the team leaderboard and staved off a run by Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe MSU Denver who finished one stroke back.
The tournament host ThunderWolves won the tournament with a two-round total of 598.
Brittlynn O'Dell had a bounce back day on the course as she shot 1-over, 73 in today's final round. The eight-stroke improvement was keyed on her first hole of the day where she birdied the par-3, No. 8 and then followed with birdies on No. 10 and No. 12 before her first bogey of the day.
She finished with six birdies, three bogeys and two doubles to wind up in a tie for 14
th place on the individual leaderboard.
Cassidy Phelan was the Mavericks highest finisher at 11
th place after a 9-over, 153.
Freshman
McKenzie Dolph had a moment to remember during her round today. Dolph drained a hole-in-one on the par-3, 129-yard, No. 6.
CSU Pueblo's Freya Constable earned medalist honors after a 1-under, 143.
The Mavericks will to the Hawaiian Islands for their final two tournaments of the fall. They will compete in the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate and the Hawaii Pacific Sharks Shootout with tournament play beginning on October 21.
