WAIKALOA VILLAGE, Hawaii – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team finished the first of two tournaments in the Hawaiian Islands on Tuesday (Oct. 22) afternoon. The Mavericks finished in 11
th place at the Dennis Rose Invitational which was played at the Village Course at Waikaloa.
Colorado Mesa shot a 33-over, 321 in Tuesday's second and final round and totaled 636 for the tournament. The score placed them just ahead of St. Martin's and Northwest Nazarene and just behind Vanguard and Western Washington.
Missouri-St. Louis won the team title with a 15-over, 591 in their two rounds.
Senior
Cassidy Phelan had the best score of any Maverick in today's round as she shot a 6-over, 78. Phelan had a birdie on the par-5, No. 1 hole and paired it with five bogeys and a double in the round. Her 78 matched with yesterday's 79 gives her a total of 157 and a tie for 44
th on the individual leaderboard.
Payton Panzeri was the Mavericks top individual finisher as she finished in a tie for 36
th place with a two-round score of 155. Panzeri shot a 1-over, 72 in Monday's first round but struggled a bit today with a 10-over, 82.
Cal State San Marcos' Madison Murr was the individual medalist with a 7-under, 137.
Colorado Mesa will be back in action on Friday at the Hawaii Pacific Sharks Shootout at Mauna Lani Resort Golf Club North.
