LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Colorado Mesa improved their team score by ten strokes to remain in fourth place out of nine teams through two rounds of The Writz at Mile High Invitational at Bear Creek Golf Club.
The Mavericks shot 11-over-par 367 as a team and currently sit at 28-over-par through two rounds. Colorado Mesa trails CSU Pueblo by nine strokes for third place and has an eight-stroke lead over Fort Lewis in fifth. Colorado Christian leads the field through 36 holes, with Colorado School of Mines just one stroke behind.
On the individual leaderboard, CMU's Dakota Gilman shot a 1-over-par round of 73 for the second straight day and finds himself in seventh place out of a field of 67 participants at 2-over. Freshman
Dylan Everett had the best score of the day for the Mavericks, shooting an even-par 72 which puts him at 4-over for the tournament.
Cole Beyer, who tied with Gilman for the lowest score in round one with a 73 on Sunday, shot a 79 today.
Pablo Diaz shot a 73 and
Yael Chahin shot a 74, bringing both golfer's scores to 7-over 151 overall.
Timmy Carvano had an impressive round competing as an individual, making even-par 72 and birdieing six of nine holes on the front nine. Carvano is 12-over-par overall.
The Mavericks will seek to move up the individual and team leaderboards when the third and final round of The Writz tees off Tuesday morning.
