Dombro Wins Second Summit Award

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Shortly before the tip-off of the RMAC Tournament, Colorado Mesa guard Levi Dombro was recognized by the conference office as the RMAC Men's Basketball Summit Award Winner for the second consecutive year.

Dombro accepted the award at center court in front of his home fans at Brownson Arena before CMU's semifinal game against Colorado School of Mines.

The RMAC Summit Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA that is also competing at the site of the finals for their respective sport's championship. Summit Award winners must have competed in 20 percent of available competitions throughout the current season.

Dombro has had the award locked up thanks to his perfect 4.0 GPA as an environmental science major. He has maintained his perfect GPA through 117 completed academic credit hours.

On the court, Dombro has appeared in 13 games for the Mavericks, averaging four minutes per game. In that time, he has collected four points, four rebounds and dished out eight assists while also contributing a steal and a block.

Dombro is no stranger to academic accolades. In addition to his two Summit Awards, Dombro is a two-time member of the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll and was named to the RMAC Academic All-Conference First Team for this season in February.

Along with the rest of the men's basketball team, Dombro will be in Texas this weekend to compete in the NCAA Tournament. The Mavericks will face Angelo State at 6:30 p.m. MT on Saturday night, with potential games to follow on Sunday and Tuesday if CMU wins.
