2023 Football Schedule Announced

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa head football coach Miles Kochevar announced the 2023 schedule on Tuesday (Mar. 28) morning. The Mavericks will play five home games and six road games this upcoming fall.
 
The season will kick off on Saturday September 2 against Texas A&M-Kingsville at 1pm. The Javelinas will be making their first-ever trip to Grand Junction and will be the first Lone Star Conference opponent the Mavericks have played since 2019.
 
Colorado Mesa will then make their two longest trips of the season on back-to-back weeks.
 
They will play their first FCS opponent since 2013 when they travel to Southern California for a matchup with the University of San Diego on September 9. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The Toreros play in the Pioneer Football League and went 5-5 during the 2022 season.
 
The Mavericks will open Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action the following week on the road when they travel to South Dakota Mines on September 16 which opens the nine-game conference slate in successive weeks.
 
They will play Black Hills State (Sept. 23), Colorado School of Mines (Oct. 7), Adams State (Oct. 21), with their final home game of the year against Chadron State on November 4. The Adams State home game on October 21 will also be the annual homecoming game.
 
Colorado Mesa will head out on the road against Western Colorado (Sept. 30), Fort Lewis (Oct. 14), CSU Pueblo (Oct. 28) and the final regular season game of the season on November 11 when they travel to New Mexico Highlands.
 
The NCAA playoffs are scheduled to begin on Saturday November 18.
