COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference handed out their weekly wrestler of the week award on Tuesday (Feb. 7) afternoon. Colorado Mesa's
Kash Anderson was named the wrestler of the week after his performance against CSU Pueblo and Colorado School of Mines.
The Boise, Idaho native began his week with a 15-2 major decision victory over his opponent from CSU Pueblo before turning his attention to a nationally ranked opponent from Colorado School of Mines.
Anderson kept the Mavericks undefeated RMAC dual season alive as he dispatched No. 5 ranked and returning all-American Anderson Salisbury of Colorado School of Mines 8-5 to clinch the dual. Kash scored an escape and two takedowns in the third period off an exhausted Salisbury.
The redshirt junior is the second Maverick to secure the RMAC Wrestler of the Week honor joining 125-pounder
Dawson Collins as recipients.
Anderson and the Mavericks have a big week ahead as they are scheduled to square off with rival Western Colorado in the Bank of Colorado Battle in Brownson on Thursday at 6pm followed by a trip to Chadron State to conclude the regular season on Saturday. One win will give the Mavericks a share of the RMAC title.
