Erin Curl was named as the MVP and was joined on the Oredigger Volleyball Classic All-Tournament team by teammate
Sierra Hunt, it was announced Saturday afternoon by event hosts Colorado School of Mines.
The honors were determined by a vote of the tournament's seven coaches.
Curl, a graduate transfer who had played Division I volleyball at the University of Alabama and Loyola Marymount University before joining the Maverick squad this fall, put down 36 kills and ten blocks while helping lead the Mavericks to a 3-1 tournament record.
She had a match-high 19 kills and hit .368 in Saturday morning's 5-set match against No. 22 Southwest Minnesota State, the only squad to go 4-0 on the weekend. The Flower Mound, Texas native also had 11 kills on .625 hitting in her CMU debut against Northern State on Friday afternoon.
Hunt, a redshirt sophomore outside hitter out of Aurora, Colorado, finished the weekend with 54 kills on .407 hitting. She also had 19 digs and four blocks throughout the weekend. Hunt was in double-figures for kills in each of CMU's first three matches, recording 13 against Northern State before tallying 16 against both No. 19 UT Tyler and Southwest Minnesota State. She then had nine more in the Mavs' final match of the tournament against Colorado Christian.
