PUEBLO, Colo.— Sierra Arceneaux won both the 100 and 200-meter titles while breaking her own school record in the 100 and running the fastest-ever 200-meter time in Maverick history, to lead the Colorado Mesa University women to their highest ever finish at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Thanks to those wins with times of 11.45 and 23.74 seconds and some other strong performances throughout the day on Sunday, the Mavericks scored 81 team points to place third out of 14 teams in the 3-day meet.
Arceneaux is now tied for sixth in the country in the 100 and sits 11
th on the NCAA Division II National Championship performers' list in the 200.
Her 200-meter time was wind-aided.
Arceneaux, also teamed with her twin sister Kierra,
Serenity Burnett-Perry and
Victoria Eversley for a NCAA Division II Championship provisional qualifying time of 46.54 seconds, which was good for third place in the 4x100-meter relay. That time is the fifth fastest in CMU history.
Meanwhile, the Mavs'
Josie Coffey took third in the high jump with a mark of 1.66 meters (5-5.25).
Hope Matteson finished 11
th after going out at that height. She cleared 1.61 meters (5-3.25) and moved to seventh in CMU history.
Sophie Lindauer and
Megan King also cleared 1.56 meters (5-1.25) in the event to place 12
th and 13
th, respectively.
The Mavericks also scored four points in the triple jump as
Kiana Jackson turned in a season-best of 11.85 meters (38-10.5).
Elsewhere on the track,
Lindsay Parsons finished fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:10.51 while
Averie Griffith took seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a clocking of 14.86 seconds.
Mica Jenrette finished ninth in 14.97.
McKenna Molder also finished ninth in the 400 meters with a time of 58.72 seconds.
Lindauer,
Jordan Brockman,
Jordan Burnett and
Serenity Burnett-Perry also finished sixth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:54.27 to move into the No. 7 spot of CMU history.
Sophomore
Meleeah Holmes-McKown finished ninth in the shot put with a throw of 11.96 meters (39-3) while
Heather Yackey finished 23
rd at 10.35 meters (33-11.5).
