GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team moved up three spots from day one to finish in a tie for 19
th place at the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association Palm Valley Classic at Palm Valley Golf Club.
The Mavericks shot a 22-over, 310 to move up from the 22
nd position in the 28-team field. They tied with Northwest Nazarene and Simon Fraser for 19
th place and were just two strokes behind 18
th place Point Loma.
Northeastern State shot 2-over on the round to move up and claim the team title in the tournament as they edged out Cal State Monterey Bay.
Elly Walters continued to play well this spring as she shot a 3-over, 75 in her second round as she finished in a tie for 21
st place on the individual leaderboard. Walters shot an even 36 in her front nine as she carded two birdies and two bogeys before moving to the back where she closed the round with two birdies and a bogey following a quad on No. 13.
Brittlynn O'Dell and
Crystle Querol each shot 6-over, 78 in today's round.
The Mavericks will continue their weekend in Arizona as they will head to Tucson for the West Texas A&M Desert Invite at Ventana Canyon.
