COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— After recording her fourth double-double of her young career with 14 points and 15 rebounds, 12 of which were on the defensive end, in Saturday's win over Adams State University, Colorado Mesa University freshman
Olivia Reed was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
The announcement was made by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
In addition to her rebounding prowess, Reed also had two blocked shots and dished out four assists while shooting 7-for-9 from the floor in Saturday's win.
In the process, the Mavs picked up their first RMAC win of the season by a 68-64 count over the Grizzlies and continued what is now an 11-year, 22-game winning streak over ASU.
The Mavs held the Grizzlies, who lead the RMAC in scoring this season, to a 40.0 percent (26-65) shooting effort and limited them to just five 3-pointers on 21 attempts, good for a 23.8 percent clip.
After the holiday break, the Mavs will resume their season on Friday, Dec. 30 at CSU Pueblo.
