GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Alyssa Britton and
Kendall White both turned in top-10 finishes to lead the Colorado Mesa University women's cross country team in Saturday's Gig Leadbetter Maverick Stampede at Lincoln Park Golf Course.
The meet was scored as a dual against the nation's 11
th-ranked Western Colorado University Mountaineers, who posted a 15-46 win. They had the first four and six of the first seven finishers, including Katie Doucette, who won the 5-kilometer race by 18.4 seconds in a time of 17 minutes, 26.2 seconds.
Britton was ninth overall and seventh amongst team scorers for the Mavericks in 18:43.4. White was four seconds behind and in tenth place.

Ricky Maestas was the third Maverick across the finish line, placing 12
th in 19:02.8.
Elaina Arcand was 13
th in 19:05.4 while
Lauren Hodges placed 17
th overall and 12
th amongst team scorers in 19:36.9.
Jessie Beck (18
th, 19:40.4) and
Arianna Kincaid (24
th, 20:46.4) also represented the Mavericks while
Ally Herring led a group of four Maverick freshman who competed unattached. Herring was 21
st in 19:50.6.
The Mavericks will resume their season in two weeks travelling to University Place, Washington for the NCAA Division II Pre-Nationals, which will be held on the same course as the Dec. 3 national championships at Chambers Creek Regional Park.
