CMU earns second straight at-large bid for Nov. 22 meet

INDIANAPOLIS— The Colorado Mesa University women's cross country team received an at-large berth in to the NCAA Division II Championships for the second straight year, the NCAA announced on Monday afternoon.

The Mavericks will race on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin and have qualified as a team for the third time in program history (2014, 2024).

They Mavs also had individual qualifiers in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2016, 2022 and 2023 and will be represented at the national meet for the fourth straight year.

The 6,000-meter race, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, will begin at 10 a.m. CST (9 a.m. Mountain) and will be streamed live on NCAA.com.

Tickets for the meet can be purchased here.

Live results will also be accessible at this link.

The Mavs earned their ticket in to the 34-team meet with a seventh place finish at Saturday's South Central Regional Championships in Pueblo, Colorado, their highest regional finish since 2014 and were also aided by their strong fourth place finish at the Lewis Crossover Invite in October.

The top three teams from each of the eight regional championships automatically qualified for the national meet.  Ten more bids were then handed out at-large, using these selection procedures, which began with procedures comparing the eighth fourth place teams.

The Mavs were one of eight teams from the deep South Central Region to earn a spot.  No other region had more than five selections.

The Mavs finished 23rd at last national championships and took 22nd in 2014.
