NEW ORLEANS— Colorado Mesa University women's cross country runner
Megan Hodges officially U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's NCAA Division II All-Region honors on Monday following her performance at Saturday's South Central Regional Championships in Pueblo, Colorado.
Hodges, a fifth-year senior out of Aurora, Colorado, finished 11
th in the individual standings in Saturday's race, posting a personal-best time of 21 minutes, 12.7 seconds on the 6,000-meter circuit at Walking Stick Golf Course. Her 11
th place finish is the best for any Maverick at a regional championship since Alexia Chapman also finished 11
th in 2016.
The USTFCCCA's All-Region honors go to the top 25 individual finishers in each of the eight regional meets that were contested around the country on Saturday.
Hodges is only the seventh different Maverick woman to earn ten total all-region accolades in program history.
However, the Mavs have been represented in four of the last five years, with current Maverick
Kira MacGill claiming said honors in 2021 and 2022 before
Kirstin Williams earned on in 2023 en route to a NCAA Championship selection as an individual.
Hodges had also been named to the First Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team earlier this season after finishing 13
th in the conference meet on Oct. 25 in Colorado Springs.
Led by Hodges' effort, the nation's 15
th-ranked Mavericks took seventh as a team in Saturday's regional, their highest regional finish in 11 years since 2014. The Mavs are now awaiting a hopeful a repeat at-large berth to the NCAA Championships, which will also be announced on Monday afternoon.
