ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A pair of Colorado Mesa women's golfers finished in the top-10 to lead the Mavericks to an eighth-place finish at the Nick Turner Invitational at Arroyo del Oso Golf Course on Tuesday (Oct. 18) afternoon.
Crystle Querol led the Maverick contingent with an even-par, 72 in her final round. She climbed the leaderboard all the way to a tie for sixth place with a combined two-day total of 3-over, 147. She had three birdies and three bogeys in her final round including a birdie on her final hole, the par-5, 499-yard, no. 5.
Elly Walters continued her steady play on Tuesday as she matched her score from yesterday with her second straight 2-over, 74. She finished in a tie for ninth place on the individual leaderboard after shooting 2-over on the front nine and even-par on the back.
Arkansas-Fort Smith's Sydney Williams won the individual medalist honor after five playoff holes with Cal State San Marcos' Caroline Wales. Each shot a 1-over, 145 in their 18 regulation holes.
Colorado Mesa dropped one spot from their Monday finish to finish in eighth with a 32-over, 608 in their two rounds. They were the highest finishing RMAC team, beating out MSU Denver, UCCS, Regis, host Fort Lewis and Adams State.
No. 44 St. Marys won the team title with a 19-over, 595.
