HOT SPRINGS, S.D.— The Colorado Mesa University women's triathlon team had seven of the top eight collegiate finishers and posted a dominant 14-31 win over rival Black Hills State University in the collegiate team scoring portion of the Southern Hills Triathlon, held Friday morning here at Angostura Recreational Area and Breakers Beach.

Shannon Feran was CMU's top finisher taking third overall and second amongst collegiate athletes completing the sprint triathlon event in one hour, five minutes and 48.8 seconds.

Maverick freshman Torin Lackmann was the women's 13-19 age-group winner as she was just behind in 1:06.16 and in fourth place.

The race was open to the public and consisted of a quarter-mile swim, 12-mile bike segment and 3.1-mile run.  Drafting was not legal during the bike portion.

Kevin Bjerke, the coach at MSU Billings, was the top overall finisher in 1:03.04.1 while BHSU's Mathilde Bernard was the top woman and collegiate finisher, placing second in 1:04.49.2.  Feran, who took second behind Bernard in the women's 20-29 age group while Lackman and Paloma Suarez Davila (1:06.16.9) went 1-2 in the 13-19 age group as part of the overall top five.

Natalie Mitchell, who finished sixth overall in 1:06.55.9 also earned an age-group bronze medal in the 20-29 division.

Abigail White, eighth in 1:07.27.3, Megan Buchanan, 11^th in 1:09.21.7, and Emma Polenske, 12^th in 1:09.23.1) also finished ahead of BHSU's second finisher Myna Buckley (13^th, 1:09.29.6).

MSU Billings also had one female competitor in Madisan Chavez, who finished 22^nd overall in 1:12.33.6.

The Mavericks will race close to home in two weeks taking part in the Desert's Edge Triathlon at Highline Lake State Park in Loma, Colorado.
