Mavericks Tame Thunderwolves to Remain Unbeaten in Conference Play

PUEBLO, Colo. – Closing out their final road trip of the season, the Colorado Mesa (6-1, 3-0 RMAC) extended their win streak to six, defeating the CSU Pueblo Thunderwolves 19-2, at Gonzales Stadium.

Allowing just two goals all game, the Mavericks left their opponent scoreless in two periods, while taking an early 14-1 edge, after scoring seven goals in the first and second periods. CMU took double to amount of shots as CSUP, picked up 39 ground balls, and finished 20-of-23 in faceoffs.

Logan Haar and Jake Keyes tallied three goals each. Aj Switzer, Hunter Holcomb, Sergio Pelayo, and Cole Emmanuel each added a pair of goals, with the remainder of the team's goals coming from Braden Plock, Jackson, Palmer, Braden Lowe, Drew Eickelman and Alex Blatt.

Nolan Hoffman boasts a 3-0 record in goal for the Mavericks, allowing just one goal on the day, while acquiring 10 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
CMU score twice within the first five minutes of play, and then added five goals within the last six minutes of the first period. They tacked on five more in the second, before the Thunderwolves Logan Wells found the twine for their first score of the game.

After putting together 14 of the their points in the first half alone, things quieted in the second half scoring five goals between the final two periods.

With under the a minute left, Kaelan Santana scored his first of the season for CSUP, and would cap of the scoring for both teams.

After five road trips and thousands of miles traveled, the Colorado Mesa men's lacrosse team will finally get the chance to play on their home turf on Friday April 16, setting up a rematch with Colorado College under the lights.
