TUCSON, Ariz. – With the spring baseball season right around the corner, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper released their preseason rankings this week.
 
Colorado Mesa checks into the rankings at No. 2 just behind preseason favorite Tampa. The Mavericks are coming off a 42-7 record in 2021 which saw them win the RMAC Regular Season Championship and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament, their 20^th overall and 12^th straight selection.
 
The Mavericks were the lone Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference representative in the rankings but did have company from some South Central Region foes. Angelo State entered the rankings at No. 4 while West Texas A&M moved in at No. 28 in the initial rankings.
 
Colorado Mesa opens the season on Thursday February 10 as they head out to California to face No. 22 Azusa Pacific in a four-game series.
 
The Mavericks home opener is scheduled for Thursday February 17 against Montana State Billings in a four-game series followed by a four-game series with No. 7 ranked Northwest Nazarene in Grand Junction.
