SOUTH JORDAN, Utah - The Colorado Mesa women's golf team is in contention after the first round of the Wasatch Invitational at Glenmoor Golf Club. The Mavericks are in a tie for 4th place after one of their best team rounds of the fall season.
Colorado Mesa shot a 26-over, 314 in the first round and are tied with MSU Denver and Northwest Nazarene after one round of play. They are ten strokes behind the leader Biola after the Eagles shot a 16-over, 304, three strokes better than RMAC foe Colorado Christian.
Brandy McClain put together a solid round with four bogeys and a double but she added a birdie on the par-3, No. 3 to finish at 5-over, 77 in Friday's opening round. McClain is in a tie for 8th place on the leaderboard, eight strokes behind the leader from Biola who shot a 3-under, 69 on the day.
Myranda Kotlowski was the Mavericks No. 2 counting golfer with a 6-over, 78 in her opening round. Kotlowski had a birdie, three bogeys, and two doubles in the round and is tied for 14th place.
Crystle Querol is playing in the tournament as an individual and is tied with McClain in 8th place with a 5-over, 77.
Tomorrow's final round begins at 9am.
