Grand Junction, Colo. – Newly appointed head women's soccer coach
Megan Remec announced the addition of two players who will join the women's soccer program next season.
Olivia Divine makes her way to the Western Slope from Highlands Ranch. The midfielder out of Highlands Ranch High School played under Matt Brennan and the 5A Continental League. In 2018, she earned Freshman Player of the Year and 3-year varsity letter winner. During the club season, Divine competes with Real Colorado 03 Olympico and Coach Danny Main. In 2016, her team won the President's Cup State Championship, and most recently served as a captain for the 2020 season.
"I chose Colorado Mesa because the moment I stepped on campus it felt like home. For me, the most important thing was playing soccer and having a great team atmosphere. I wanted to continue my soccer career, while also staying close to home so my parents could come and watch me play. Everything I wanted fit perfectly into CMU, I knew I had found my perfect school" said Devine.
"We're excited to welcome Olivia to the Maverick Family. Olivia comes from Real Colorado, which is one of the strongest youth soccer clubs in the state and has certainly prepared her well for collegiate soccer. Olivia has been a team captain and is committed to growing and developing as a soccer player, even attending extra practices in the morning before high school. She's an athletic player who will be able to use her speed and skill in the wide areas of the field."
Mira Houck is a midfielder out of Thornton, Colorado and comes to CMU after a season with RMAC foe MSU Denver. Prior to her time with the Roadrunners, Houck competed for Jaguars of Jefferson Academy. Throughout her high school career she tallied 51 goals and 21 assists for 123 career points as a 4-year letter winner in soccer. She also lettered in track and field and basketball.
Outside of high school sports, she dedicated time to the Olympic Development Program state travel team and the Broomfield Blast 01 Prestige club team. She chose CMU because the campus felt like a second home, and the program felt like a second family. She aspires to be a 3
rd or 4
th grade teacher, with an emphasis in English.
"I have been fortunate to know and coach Mira in several settings, including all the way back at U14 soccer. Mira is a competitor and leader. She brings a presence to the midfield with her athleticism, decision-making, and work ethic. She has won championships at the club soccer and high school level, and I know those are her goals for college soccer at CMU, as well. We are happy to welcome her to the Maverick Family!"
