GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Another Battle in Brownson, another battle won.
Colorado Mesa (6-3, 2-0 RMAC) and CSU-Pueblo split the ten bouts but a
Daniel Van Hoose pin at 141 pounds and a
Nolan Krone technical fall win at 184 pounds propelled the Mavericks to a 23-22 win over CSU-Pueblo in the sixth annual Battle in Brownson.
The dual started at 133 pounds with CSU-Pueblo claiming a decision victory and a 3-0 lead.
Van Hoose earned a pin at 141 pounds over Dino Cancellieri with just three seconds left in the second period. The Grand Junction native led 3-0 before throwing Cancellieri in a headlock for the late period pin and the 6-3 lead in the dual.
The ThunderWolves came roaring back with a major decision win at 149 pounds and a pin at 157 pounds giving the Pack a 13-9 advantage.
Fred Green made his home debut on Friday night and didn't disappoint. Green earned a 4-2 win over 157 pound national qualifier Isaiah Diggs, wrestling up at 165 pounds. The junior surrendered a takedown early but answered with a takedown of his own and a pair of escapes for the win.

Nolan Krone worked a 16-0 technical fall of freshman Jayson Davis for a huge bonus point victory.
Colorado Mesa went back-to-back with a decision win at 197 pounds.
Donnie Negus picked up a 5-1 victory over freshman Ben Gould to ice the dual.
CSU-Pueblo forfeited at 125 pounds giving the Mavericks the six-points and the dual victory.
The win was the first over CSU-Pueblo in the last four tries and improves their Battle in Brownson record to 4-2.
Colorado Mesa will take on ninth-ranked Colorado School of Mines tomorrow night in Brownson Arena at 5pm.
