HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Colorado Mesa wrestling team traveled to the East Coast for a pair of duals on Saturday and will be coming home with a pair of wins as they defeated first-year program Lander and Coker in a double dual.
COLORADO MESA 21, LANDER 13
The Mavericks won their first dual out in South Carolina by a score of 21-13 over first-year program Lander. Colorado Mesa won seven of the nine contested bouts with just one of them going for bonus points.
Cian Apple secured a major decision victory over Austin Ross 9-1 at 125 pounds. The junior got a takedown and a 4-point nearfall in the first period and was able to coast to the victory after that.
Freshman
Dyllan Fuchs recorded his first dual victory of his Colorado Mesa career with a 5-2 win at 149 pounds.
Seth Latham and
Nolan Krone got back-to-back 8-1 victories at 174 and 184 pounds respectively late in the dual.

For the second straight dual, Colorado Mesa won seven of the nine contested bouts in a 31-13 win over the host Coker Cobras. The Mavericks two pins and a win via injury default in the dual.
Collin Metzgar earned a first round pin of Brandon Dasen at 125 pounds while
Seth Latham needed two periods for his pin of Jhavon Innocent at 174 pounds.
Fred Green earned an 11-0 major decision victory at 165 pounds over Corey Christe.

The Mavericks will head back home for a pair of important Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference duals next week. On Friday, they will host CSU-Pueblo in the annual Bank of Colorado Battle in Brownson.
