GREELEY, Colo.— Alain De La Bastide and
Lucas Martin won their No. 1 doubles match to lead the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks in their men's tennis effort against NCAA Division I University of Northern Colorado indoors here at Work Out West on Thursday.
The 6-2 win over Kyle Pease and Tommy Smalley was the Maverick duo's team-leading 14
th of the season but was not enough to score a team point as the Bears won the other two doubles matches while sweeping the six singles matches to record a 7-0 team win.
In singles, Martin fared best as he won the second set tiebreaker over Nick Wade in the No. 5 singles match by a 7-4 count before falling 10-6 in the match tiebreaker.
With the team win the Bears improved to 9-10. The Mavericks fell to 3-15 heading into a Friday afternoon encounter at Division III Colorado College in Colorado Springs.
