Mavs Fall to #6 Cougars

AZUSA, Calif. – The Colorado Mesa men's tennis team opened their spring break trip to Southern California with a tough foe in sixth-ranked Azusa Pacific. The Mavericks fell to the Cougars 7-0 in a rain-shortened match.

Colorado Mesa's Nick Farmen and Will Agritelley faced off with top-ranked Oliver Frank and Christian Schmid at No. 1 doubles and fell 8-3.

At No. 2 doubles, Mavericks Lucas Martin and Alain De La Bastide squared off with another nationally ranked doubles team in 10th-ranked Jakob Schnaitter and Tony Pejic. The Maverick duo lost in a highly contested 8-5 decision.

The Cougars won the five contested singles matches in straight sets. Daniel Ness and Mitchell Steadman's matches did not finish as the California rains came and ended the matches.

The Mavericks will take on Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego on Wednesday.
