GUNNISON, COLO. – The Colorado Mesa University track and field teams broke four school-records at the Western State Invitational April 21-22.
Gabriella Casey won the pole vault with a provisional and school-record height of 11-10.
Spencer Elder placed third (10-6).
Mekayla Winchester won both the 200 (25.22) and 100 hurdles (12.25) and finished second in the 100 (12.25). Her time in the 100 hurdles better her own school-record.
Teammate
McKayla Thomas was second in the 100 hurdles (15.18).
D'Angelo Foster lowered his own school-record in the 110-hurdles (14.48) to finish third.
Vernon Jackson won the long jump with a school-record leap of 24-1.75.
Danielle Pickert placed fourth in the shot put with a school-record throw of 39-6.5.
The Mavericks swept the triple jump titles.
Bacall Sterling won with a provisional qualifying mark of 39-8.5.
Peter Greco won the men's with a leap of 44-0.75.
CMU also swept the high jump.
Quincey Pedersen and
Erika White finished first (5-0.5) and second (4-8.75) in the women's, and
Spencer Jahr and Michael Barbeau placed first (6-0) and second (5-8) in the men's.
Caeleigh Bowman won the women's javelin (104-6), and
Alex Armenta won the men's (159-9) with
Greggory Payseno finishing third (154-8).
Trevor Jensen finished second in the hammer (169-11) and shot (48-0.75).
Alexia Chapman won the 1,500 (4:51.60), and
Stephanie Vetger finished third in the discus (111-6).
Both the men's (43.17) and women's (50.09) 4x100 relay teams finished second.
The men finished first of five teams, and the women placed second of five.
Colorado Mesa University will participate in the RMAC Championships hosted by Western State May 7-9.
