GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. – The Colorado Mesa University men's tennis team earned a share of the RMAC Regular Season Championship with MSU Denver with a 7-2 win over CSU-Pueblo Saturday (April 15).
The last time Colorado Mesa won the RMAC Regular Season in men's tennis was in 1991 when head coach
Dan MacDonald was on the team.
The Mavericks opened the match with a sweep of the doubles, including an 8-3 win at No. 1 by
Cody Freischlag and
Nicholas Farmen.
Cody Freischlag fell in three sets (6-4, 5-7, 7-5) at No. 1 singles, and
Max Lindqvist dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 2.
The Mavericks swept the final four singles matches.
Nicholas Farmen posted a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 3, and
Lucas Martin need three sets (7-5, 4-6, 7-5) to win at No. 4.
Oliver Lindqvist won at No. 5 (6-2, 6-2), and
Alain De La Bastide (6-4, 6-2) at No. 6.
Colorado Mesa (11-11) will participate in the RMAC Tournament April 5
th.
