GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. – Colorado Mesa University swept the team titles at the CMU Invite Saturday (March 25).
The men won with 172 points and the women won with 167.5 points.
The Mavericks won 10 events on the day.
Nolan Ellis won the pole vault in a school-record and NCAA provisional mark of 16-7.25.
The Mavericks also won the women's pole vault thanks to
Gabriella Casey who tied her school-record with a jump of 11-7.75.
D'Angelo Foster won the 110-hurdles in a school-record time of 14.79.
John Cusick and
Michael Fera finished first (1:55.62) and second (1:57.30) in the 800.
Mekayla Winchester and
Ally Tapp placed first (25.26) and second (26.09) in the 200. Tapp was second in the 100 (12.83).
Alexia Chapman and
Reanna Jereb finished first (18:06.22) and second (18:39.84) in the 5,000.
Bacall Sterling won the 400 hurdles (1:04.53) and
Lyndzie Kroupa was third (1:12.11).
McKayla Thomas finished second in the 100 hurdles (15.32).
Marc Garcia finished third in the men's 400 hurdles (56.36).
Taylor Clark won the discus (134-5) and finished third in the hammer throw (146-4).
Aaron Simons placed second in the discus (153-3) and
Trevor Jensen was third (149-9). Jensen also finished second in the hammer (167-8) and third in the shot put (50-3.25). Chris Walker was third in the hammer throw (164-6).
Spencer Jahr won the javelin (159-9) and
Alex Armenta was third (147-8).
Hannah McClure finished second (103-10) and
Caeleigh Bowman was third (103-1) in the javelin.
Zeke Sandoval placed second in the 200 (22.72) and third in the 400 (49.67).
Blake Graf finished second in the 10,000 (32:25.10) and Daniel Vavrik was third (32:56.48).
Quincey Pedersen finished second in the high jump (5-2.5) and third in the triple jump (35-8.5).
James Sylvester won the long jump with a leap of 23-3.5, and
Peter Greco was second in the triple jump with a jump of 45-4.25.
The women's 4x400 team finished second (3:58.66), and the men were third (3:27.59).
Colorado Mesa will compete at the CSUP Pack Classic March 31 and April 1.
