GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University men's tennis team defeated Div. I Northern Colorado 4-3 Friday (April 3).
The Golden Bears won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles action.
The two teams battled at every singles match.
Jordan Lyden tied the match at 1-1 with a three set win (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) at No. 1.
Spencer Weinberg also needed three sets for the win at No. 2 (6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (2)).
Andres Garcia-Rojas defeated Mitchel Knight 7-6 (3), 6-3) at No. 3.
UNC tied the match at 3-3 after wins at No. 4 and 5 singles.
Trevor Brown earned the win for the Mavericks with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Jordan Loughnan at No. 6 singles.
CMU improves to 13-5 on the year and will face MSU Denver and Western New Mexico Saturday (April 3). Â
