GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa men's tennis season came to end with a 5-2 loss to Western New Mexico in the finals of the RMAC Tournament Saturday (April 19).
The Mavericks opened the match with a pair of doubles wins.
Jordan Lyden and Spencer Weinerg won at No. 1 doubles 8-3.
Cody Freischlag and
Blake Demond notched an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles.
The Mustangs won at No. 3 doubles and won the top four singles matches for the win.
The tournament win was the fifth straight for Western New Mexico.
Jordan Lyden and
Spencer Weinberg each earned first-team all-conference accolades in both singles and doubles.
Andres Garcia-Rojas earned second-team honors, and Cody Freishchlag and
Trevor Brown were third team selections. Freishchlag and teammate
Blake Demond were second-team selections in doubles. Brown and Garcia-Rojas also earned third-team honors in doubles.
Dan MacDonald was also named coach of the year.
Colorado Mesa concludes the year 12-8.
