Men's Hoops Heads to Texas

Colorado Mesa will open the regular season with a pair of games against Dallas Baptist and St. Edward's in the RMAC vs. Heartland Conference Shootout. 

Vasquez Debut
Junior Julian Vasquez came off the bench to score a game-high 24 points in an exhibition game at Utah Valley on Nov. 5. The Miami, Fla., native drained five of the team's eight free throws in the game in addition to grabbing a team-high six rebounds in his first game in a Maverick uniform. 

Big Steph
Junior Ryan Stephen picked up where he left off last season. The Lakewood, Colo., native scored 17 points, including three 3-pointers and 4-of-5 free throws. 

Second Half Success
Colorado Mesa shot 29-percent (7-24) in the first half against Utah Valley. The Mavericks would improve to 45-percent (13-29) in the second half. 

Bench Points
CMU's bench outscored UVU's bench 30-14. 

Free Throws
Colorado Mesa shot 82-percent (14-17) from the free throw line at Utah Valley. The Wolverines shot 70-percent (21-30) but made more free throws (21) then the Mavericks attempted (17). 

Defend the Three
CMU did a great job defending the three against UVU. The Wolverines shot 25-percent from behind the arc making 3-of-12 shots. 

Helping Others
Junior Joe Kiely dished out a game-high four assists against Utah Valley. The Columbia, Md., native also finished with eight points and four rebounds. 

Looking Ahead
Colorado Mesa will stay on the road playing in the UCCS Tournament Nov. 21-22.
