GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University men's tennis team defeated Montana State-Billings 8-1 and CSU-Pueblo 9-0 to conclude a busy weekend of tennis Saturday (Oct. 5).
Jordan Lyden finished 4-0 at No. 1 singles and doubles. He posted a 6-0, 6-4 singles win against MSUB and a 6-4, 6-2 win against CSUP. Lyden and
Spencer Weinberg opened with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Billings and an 8-1 win against Pueblo.
Weinberg won both his No. 2 singles matches with a 6-0, 6-4 win against Brandon Beardsley of MSUB and a 6-1, 6-0 win over Luke Lipinski of CSUP.
Andres Garcia won both his singles matches at No. 3. He defeated Josh Hedderig of Billings 6-0 and 6-1 and followed up with a 6-1, 6-3 decision over Marcelo Chaparro of Pueblo.
Trevor Brown won both singles matches at No. 4, and
Cody Freischlag went 2-0 at No. 5.
CMU will play at Utah State Jan. 24.
