Colorado Mesa will play its first road game of the season at No. 3 Montana State on Saturday (Sept. 14). The Mavericks enter the contest 1-0 after defeating Menlo 34-0 on Sept. 7. The Bobcats enter the contest 1-1 after suffering a 31-30 loss at Southern Methodist on Sept. 7.Â
The Polls
Montana State is ranked No. 3 in the latest Div. I Football Championship Series poll. Colorado Mesa is not ranked.Â
The Series
The Bobcats lead the all-time series with the Mavericks 2-1, with all three games played in Bozeman, Mont. The lone CMU win was a 41-7 victory in 1988.Â
Season-Opener
Mesa's win against Menlo last week was the first season-opening win for the program since 2007. The Mavericks defeated Dixie State 41-14 on Aug. 25.Â
Playing The Big Dogs
CMU is not afraid to play tough opponents. 2013 is the second straight season the Mavericks will play a Div. I opponent. Last season Northern Colorado defeated Mesa 40-3.Â
Shut Out
The shutout against Menlo was the first shutout for the football team since Mesa held Colorado Mines scoreless for an 18-0 win on Nov. 3, 2007.Â

Aric Kaiser started the game at quarterback against Menlo but left early in the first quarter with an injury.Â

Kyle Duran finished the game at quarterback completing 16-of-29 passes for 142 yards. The Chandler, Ariz., native rushed 10 times for 12 yards, including a one-yard touchdown run.Â
The Backfield
Junior
Jake Cimolino handled the majority of the carries for the Mavericks last week against Menlo. The Fort Bragg, Calif., native carried the ball 15 times for 120 yards (8.0 ypc). The two-time All-RMAC performer scored two of the team's three touchdowns. He currently ranks fourth in career rushing at CMU with 2,459 yards and needs just 376 yards to move into third place on the all-time list.Â

Ricky Trinidad made quite an impression in his first game in a Maverick uniform. The transfer from Neb.-Kearney rushed for 91 yards on 14 carries (8.0 ypc) against the Oaks. The Trinity, Fla., native also caught three passes for 19 yards.Â
The Other Jake
Senior
Jake Edmiston led the Maverick defense with a game-high 14 tackles against MC. The Palisade, Colo., native finished with 1.5 sacks in the contest.Â
More Sacks
Senior
Ryan Sivetts finished with two sacks for a total of 14 yards against Menlo. The Arvada, Colo., native racked up six tackles and forced one fumble.Â

Tanner Donahue has converted both of his field goal attempts for the Mavericks this season. The Castle Rock, Colo., native drilled a 46-yarder in the third quarter and followed up with a 42-yarder in the fourth quarter.Â
Return Man
Junior defensive back
Jordan Price enjoyed plenty of time on the field against Menlo. The Fort Worth, Texas, native handled all the return duties for CMU racking up 28 yards on four returns (one kickoff and three punts). The 2011 RMAC Freshman Defensive Player of the Year notched the only interception for the Mavericks and returned it 11 yards to set up the first touchdown for CMU.Â
Fan Support
Mesa received tremendous fan support at Stocker Stadium against Menlo. The crowd of 5,312 was the largest to watch a CMU football game in over a decade.Â
