The Colorado Mesa University Women's Basketball team earned the #1 seed and the right to host the NCAA South Central Region Tournament. The Mavericks, winners of the RMAC Regular Season Championship and the RMAC Tournament, will play RMAC rival Fort Lewis at 6:00pm in Brownson Arena on Friday night. The Skyhawks were awarded the #8 seed in the Region.
The Mavericks and Skyhawks know each other pretty well at this point of the season, having played each other twice in the last seven days and will be meeting for the fourth time this season. Colorado Mesa has won the previous three meetings including a 73-65 win in the RMAC Tournament Semifinals last Friday.
In the other matchups, 2nd seeded Midwestern State will take on 7th seeded Tarleton State in a matchup of Lone Star Conference foes. Midwestern State will be taking on Tarleton State for the fourth time this season as well and are 3-0 against them.
The Heartland Conference's St. Mary's Rattlers enter the tournament seeded #3 and will take on the RMAC's Metro State seeded 6th while 4th seeded Texas-Permian Basin from the Heartland Conference will battle Abilene Christian, seeded 5th, from the Lone Star Conference.
The Tournament will run Friday, Saturday, and Monday in Brownson Arena. Stay tuned for ticket information.
