Box Score SILVER CITY, N.M. – Colorado Mesa survived a tough road test in Silver City on Friday night and came away with a 57-51 win over the Western New Mexico Mustangs. The Mavericks entered the contest ranked fifth in the WBCA National Poll.

The Maverick defense held strong late, holding the Mustangs to 29.8 percent shooting from the floor and just 17.6 percent from behind the three-point arc.

Taylor Wagner thought that the Mavericks would have to out rebound Western New Mexico. They did just that, finishing with a 36-34 advantage and 28-23 on the defensive end.
Sharaya Selsor finished as the game's high scorer with 22 points on 6-of-16 shooting. Selsor was 9-of-11 from the free-throw line and had a team-high three assists.
Aubry Boehme had 19 points and five rebounds while
Taylor Rock finished with a game-high nine rebounds.
At the half, the Mavericks led 26-24 and finished on a 6-2 run.
Aubry Boehme led all scorers with ten points and two rebounds. The Mavericks shot 42.1 percent from the floor and 72 percent from the free-throw line.
The Mavericks will travel to Las Vegas tomorrow night to do battle with the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls. The tip is set for 6:00pm from the John A. Wilson Complex.
