Colorado Mesa (2-1) defeated Northern New Mexico College 84-51 in its home debut in the Clarion Inn Thanksgiving Classic on Friday night in Brownson Arena.
Colton Burgon led all players with 15 points, hitting 6 of 10 from the field. Burgon finished with five rebounds and two assists in 19 minutes of playing time.
Local standout
Clay Kame had an outstanding game connecting on 6 of 7 from the field for 12 points. Kame had a game high eight rebounds and tallied four assists off the bench.
CMU led 43-21 at halftime on 53.6 percent shooting from the floor. The Mavs out-rebounded the Eagles 47-30 and held NNMC to 27.8 percent shooting on the night. The Eagles were led by Eric Watson's 11 points.
CMU will host Dixie State (3-1) in a rematch with the Red Storm. The Mavs fell to DSC two weeks ago at the Red Storm Classic 77-65. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
