RMAC Tournament Bracket

Mesa State (18-8, 14-8) closed out the regular season with a victory over visiting Fort Lewis College 72-52 Saturday night at Brownson Arena.

Fort Lewis (19-7, 15-7) scored the first bucket of the game and the Mavs went on a 21-6 run and never trailed again the entire game.

MSC held a 35-28 halftime lead and outscored the Skyhawks 37-24 in the second half. The Mavericks opened the second half on a 7-0 run and a 16 point advantage. MSC never relinquished its double digit lead.

Nine different Mavericks scored in the game led by Michael Bear's 16 points. Bear was 6 of 8 from the field and 3 for 4 from the foul line. Jeff Hart finished with 12 points (4 of 5) and Kalonji Paschal recorded 11 points and three assists.

MSC shot 56 percent (24-43) from the field and turned the ball over just eight times in the game. FLC shot 34.5 percent (20-58) and despite 14 offensive boards could not close the deficit in the second half.

Mesa State will take on the Skyhawks in the first round of the RMAC Shootout Tournament, Tuesday night in Durango. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. The winner of the Tuesday game will advance to the semi-final round in Pueblo.
