Box Score Kelsey Sigl's game high 28 points (18-first half) helped the Mavericks overcome a nine-point deficit late in the second half to rally back and tie the game at the end of regulation.
Sharaya Selsor 's layup with 1:02 remaining in regulation tied the game at 72-72. The Mavs (12-6, 9-5) outscored Regis University 9-3 in overtime to defeat the Rangers (7-11, 6-8) 81-75 in RMAC action Friday evening.
MSC scored first in the overtime but not until 1:52 left in the five-minute OT period. Tara Gehring hit a trey to give the Mavericks the first lead since the 16:16 mark of the second half. Sigl hit a jumper and MSC went 4 for 4 from the foul line to seal the victory. Regis' three points in the OT all came off free throws as the Rangers went 0 for 8 from the field in the extra period.
Sigl led all players with 28 points hitting 4 of 6 from the 3-point line and a 7 of 7 from the foul line. She had eight rebounds, three steals and one assist.
Katrina Selsor finished with a double-double; 20 points and 10 rebounds. She led the team with six assists and recorded three steals and one block. Selsor had 11 second-half points.
Sharaya Selsor had 11 points and two assists.
MSC hit 22 of 24 free throws and forced 19 Regis turnovers; 11 in the second half to overtake the Rangers on their home court.
Regis had three players finish in double digits; led by Lauren Luebbe's 22 points. The Rangers tallied nine blocked shots. Salina Kuiper recorded 18 points, five blocks and three assists.
Mesa State will play at Metro State Saturday at 5 p.m.
