Box Score Mesa State (11-6, 8-5) fell to Colorado Christian (13-3, 12-1) 75-68 Saturday night in RMAC action. The Mavericks led 37-33 at half and gave the Cougars all they could handle as CCU remains atop the conference standings.
Sharaya Selsor scored a season high 25 points including 19 in the first half; hitting 6 of 7 from the floor (3 of 4 treys).
Kelsey Sigl finished with 17 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Amy Weitzeil added 10 points, nine boards and two steals. Katrina Selsor recorded a season high eight assists to go along with her eight rebounds and seven points.
Mesa State's four point halftime advantage was quickly erased as the Cougars opened the second half with a free throw and a 3-pointer by Brittany Long to tie the game at 37-37. With the game tied at 42-42, CCU's Long hit another trey; she had six treys on the night, to go ahead 45-42. The Cougars would not relinquish the lead the remainder of the contest. MSC twice pulled to within one point and the Cougars answered back both times with 3-pointers.
CCU outscored the Mavericks 42-31 in the second half including six second-half treys. CCU finished 10 of 27 from the 3-point line. Brittany Long finished with 25 points, four rebounds and three assists.
MSC out-rebounded Colorado Christian 42-32 but committed 23 turnovers, 13 in the second half, resulting in 14 CCU points.
MSC will travel to Regis University and Metro State College next weekend.
