Final Results
Mesa State women's golf team won the windy and blustery Quality Inn Spring Invitational Monday evening at The Redlands Mesa Golf Course posting a two round total 670. MSC hosted the five-team event which was scheduled for 18 holes on Monday and Tuesday. It was decided Monday morning the teams would play 36 holes due to the forecast for rain/snow on Tuesday.
MSC finished well ahead of the field with Adams State taking second with a two-round total 733. Chadron State and Regis University tied for third (749), and Colorado Christian was fifth (818).
Jennifer Hilts won medalist honors shooting 159 including the low round of 79 on the afternoon's 18 holes. Hilts posted a round of 80 in the morning and led by one stroke over teammate Michelle Stripp. Hilts extended her lead to seven strokes with her second round 79.
Michelle Stripp finished tied for second with rounds of 81 and 85. Stripp and Adams State's Codi Hegg (85, 81) each posted a 166.
Jessica Berve placed fourth (87, 82) with a 169, shaving five strokes off her morning score to move from seventh for fourth place.
Kristina Casillas tied for fifth place (89, 87) scoring a 176. Casillas posted a team high 15 pars, second only to Adams State's Kelsey McSpadden's 18 pars.
Brooke Jorgenson tied for seventh place (89, 88) with a 177. Jorgenson tied with teammate Stripp and Berve with two birdies on the day. Hilts led the team with four birdies.
Individually the Mavericks were represented by Courtney Lawson (185), Afton Balling (193), Jessica Nesbit (202) and Brittani White (207).
