DURANGO, Colo.— Sophomore
Hayden Hawley led the Colorado Mesa University women's golf team for the second straight day and recorded a top-ten finish in the individual standings at the Nick Turner Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday here at the Hillcrest Golf Club.
Hawley posted a solid second round score of 74 (+2) on Tuesday and finished eighth with a 36-hole total of 151 (+4) after signing for a 77 (+5) on Monday.
The Thornton, Colorado native now has finished in the top ten of two of her three tournaments this fall after doing so in two as a freshman.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks finished fourth as a team with a score of 625 (+49) and posted a 313 (+25) on Tuesday after recording a 312 (+24) on Monday.
Three other Mavericks also finished in the top 20 of the individual standings.
Libby Bourassa finished in a tie for 13
th, with a 2-round score of 156 (+12). She recorded a career-best round of 77 (+5) on Tuesday and also posted her best tournament score of her CMU career.
Meanwhile,
Hunter Gledhill finished 18
th at 158 (+14) after recording an 80 on Tuesday.
Allison Sanger tied for 19
th at 160 (+16) and registered an 81 in the second round.
McKenzie Dolph finished 23
rd at 165 (+21) and had her round of 83 dropped from the Mavs' team score.
Two Maverick freshman also competed in the tournament as individuals.
Brooke Brekke finished in a tie for 24
th at 166 (+22) and posted an 80 in the second round after finishing her first round on Tuesday morning with a score of 86. She and fellow freshman
Lilyanna Hathaway, were unable to complete their first rounds on Monday due to lightning delays and then darkness. Hathaway, making her CMU debut in the event, finished 34
th at 199 (+55).
The Mavs are now 60 percent done with their fall season and will play again next Monday and Tuesday at South Dakota Mines' Hardrocker Invitational in Rapid City, South Dakota.
