Mesa State men (20-4, 14-3) dropped its third straight league game falling at Fort Lewis 79-78 Saturday night in Durango.
FLC scored the go-ahead basket with four seconds remaining in regulation to improve to 18-7 overall and 12-5 in league play.
The Mavericks had the ball with 3.6 seconds left but a last second shot was off the mark.
MSC trailed by 13 points at the 11:13 mark and battled back with a 22-8 run to take the lead, 68-67 on a trey by Mike Dominguez with 5:23 left in the game. The lead changed hands four times in the final five minutes before the Skyhawks sealed the victory on a jumper by DeAndre Lansdowne with our second left.
Lance Fite finished with a team high 17 points and game high eight rebounds. Dominguez added 15 points and Brian Kenshalo had 12 points.
MSC will try to clinch the west division title and RMAC conference title this weekend at Brownson Arena. The Mavericks will host CSU-Pueblo Friday night at 8 p.m. Saturday night MSC will host New Mexico Highlands at 7 p.m.
