Mav Golfers 4th at Maverick Invite

Jennifer Hilts - 4th Place Finish

                 Freshman Jennifer Hilts (Bend, OR) shot a two-day total 163 to help the Mavericks to a fourth place finish in the Quality Inn/Maverick Invitational at Tiara Rado Golf Course Monday and Tuesday in Grand Junction. Hilts' 163 tied her for fourth place overall, four strokes behind Kiley Johansen, (Fort Hays State) who took home top individual honors.
                Afton Balling (Fr., Cody, WY) tied for ninth with a 165 (83, 82) and senior Sadie Peavler (Star Valley, WY) finished 15^th with 167. Freshman Jessica Berve's (Farmington, NM) two-day total 173 (87, 86) tied her for 22^nd place and Dana Anderson finished 53^rd overall.
                Fort Hays State won the team title with a 655, 10 strokes better than second place Montana State Billings' 665. Western New Mexico finished third (666), two strokes better than fourth place MSC's 668.
                MSC was in third place following day one (337) at Tiara Rado and despite knocking off six strokes on day two (331), finished within three strokes of second place. Montana State Billings was in fourth place after day one (345) and carded a team total 320 on day two to jump from fourth to second place.
                The Mavericks will travel to Goodyear, AZ next Monday and Tuesday for the Grand Canyon Invitational at Coldwater Golf Club.
