Freshman Jessica Berve (Farmington, NM) shot a final round 82 (83-82-165) for a seventh place finish in her first collegiate golf tournament at the Eagle (Chadron State) Invitational in Scottsbluff, NE. Berve helped the Mavericks to a fourth place finish at the Scottsbluff Golf Course (Par 72).
Afton Balling (Cody, WY) tied for 12th overall with a two-day total 168 (85-83). Berve was in 10th place following Monday's action and Balling was tied for 14th at the end of day one.
Senior Sadie Peavler (Star Valley, WY) carded a two-day total 170 (81-89), which tied her for 15th place. Peavler shot a team low 81 on Monday. Jennifer Hilts (Fr., Bend, OR) finished 34th overall with a score of 183. Hilts knocked off nine strokes (96-87) in round two.
Montana State Billings shot a team total 668 for first place. Western New Mexico (679) and Fort Hays State (680) finished second and third respectively.
Individually Carissa Schwalm (Western New Mexico) and Sara Wissing (Neb.-Kearney) tied for first place (158).
MSC will host the Maverick Invitational at the Tiara Rado Golf Course on September 22-23, Monday and Tuesday. Tee times for Monday will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday will be a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m.
