Manny Flores was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by conference officials on Monday afternoon.
The Snohomish, Washington native recorded four caused turnovers and scooped up two ground balls as the Mavericks came from behind to defeat Florida Southern in their home-opener.
The Mavs trailed 3-0 and 5-1 in the first half and were down 9-7 early in the fourth quarter before the Mavs came back to tie the game with 20.7 seconds left in regulation before winning in overtime.
The Mavericks are off to perfect 3-0 start and moved up a spot to tenth in this week's
USILA NCAA Division II Coaches' Poll.
The Mavs will travel to Florida later this week to begin a 3-game trip through the Sunshine State. They will take on Palm Beach Atlantic in a neutral-site contest in Tampa on Saturday at 3 p.m. EDT (1 p.m. Mountain) before taking on fourth-ranked Tampa on Sunday at Noon EDT (10 a.m. Mountain).
They will then end the trip next Tuesday (Mar. 17) at Flagler in St. Augustine.
