Grand Junction, CO.- Colorado Mesa hosts #2 United States Air Force Academy for a two gamer series to start the second semester.
After a long break the Mavs finally hit the ice with a tough test against #2 nationally ranked Air Force. Last time these two teams met the Mavs pulled off an upset winning 2-0. In game 1 things looked the Mavs way early as Senior
Larry Simons would score on the powerplay with a tip in to give the Mavs the 1-0 lead. That would stand as the Mavs only tally of the game as Air Force would go on to score 11 unanswered goals to take the first game 11-1. Game 2 would prove to be no different as the Mavs would lose 8-1. Freshman
Marcus Ray would be the lone goal scorer for the Mavs as he would score off a turn and shoot.
The Mavericks will play Grand Canyon University on Sunday February 15th for the 9th Annual Pink the Rink game! Students must buy a ticket for this game as all proceeds go to Community Hospital's Oncology department.
