GUNNISON, Colo.— The nation's 18
th-ranked Colorado Mesa University men's wrestling team swept their way to a 3-0 day on Saturday at the Tracy Boral Duals here in Western Colorado University's Mountaineer Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks improved to 4-1 in duals on the season, defeating Super VI Regional foes and California foes Cal Poly Humboldt, 49-5, and Vanguard, 35-11, before taking down North Dakota's Minot State, 41-11.
The Mavs won 24 of their 30 bouts throughout the day as
Adonias Cantu, sixth-ranked
Alex Castaneda, seventh-ranked
Owen Cline,
Will Alvarado,
Christian Pebley and
Ruben Samuelson all went a perfect 3-0.
All three of Samuelson's wins at 285 pounds came via pins in a combined four minutes and five seconds.
The Mavs racked up 12 pins throughout the duals while also adding six wins by technical fall and two others by major decision.

CMU will now turn its attention to the heart of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual meet season, taking on five conference foes over the next five weeks, beginning next Saturday afternoon (Jan.1 7) at 16

The Mavericks recorded seven pins and won nine of the ten bouts in a blow-out win over the Lumberjacks.

The Mavs won six of the final seven bouts and received pins from William Alvarado,
Gabriel Carranza and Rubel Samuelson to post a 24-point win over the Lions.
The Mavs trailed 8-5 after three matches but won the next four from 149-174 pounds to seize a 23-8 cushion. Alvarado's pin at 165 pounds highlighted the stretch, which also featured a 21-6 technical fall win from
Owen Cline at 157, a 9-0 major decision victory from
Christian Pebley at 174 and a 2-0 decision from
Alex Castaneda at 149.
After the Lions won at 184 pounds, Carranza and Samuelson finished off the victory with a pair of first-period pins at 197 and 285.
