BROOMFIELD, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University women's golf team posted a team score of 310 and stands in fourth place out of 11 teams after the opening day of The Swan Memorial, the Mavs' 2025-26 season-opener.
The par-72 Broadlands Golf Course played tough at just under 6,000 yards (5,997) with an average score of just under 80 (79.89). All 18 holes played over par.
Sophomore
Hunter Gledhill led the Maverick effort and is in a tie for tenth place after carding a round of 75 (+3). She had two birdies on the back-9 and played those holes in even par.
Payton Panzeri is a tie for 21st after firing a round of 77 (+5) while freshman
Hayden Hawley made two birdies and three pars in her first five collegiate holes before drifting back into a tie for 26th after a round of 78 (+6).
CSU Pueblo transfer
Anju Ogi is tied for 34th and carded an 80 (+8) as her former teammates opened up a four shot lead in the team standings. The ThunderWolves opened with a team score of 295 and have five players amongst the top ten plus ties. Cal State LA and Colorado Christian are tied for second at 299 while the Mavericks hold the advantage over a pack of six teams, spread by just eight shots.
Angelo State and MSU Denver ate tied for fifth, just one shot behind the Mavs, at 311 (+23).
South Dakota Mines' Kenzie Schroeder was the only golfer in the 64-woman field to break par and carded a 2-under 70 with five birdies and just one bogey and one double bogey. She leads Colorado Christian's Raya Schulz and Kylee Hughes by two shots as the Cougars posed even par rounds of 72.
The 36-hole tournament will resume on Tuesday at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start of the second and final round.
