COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Five Colorado Mesa University players advanced to the semifinals of the singles draws while three of their four doubles partnerships did the same during a strong day for the Maverick women's tennis team on Saturday during the Colorado College Invitational here at Memorial Park.

The Mavericks went a combined 7-3 in the "A" singles draw as Jade Brilhante and Devyn Rodriguez both went 2-0 to reach the semifinals, where they are slated to play each other on Sunday morning.  The doubles partners also defeated the host Tigers' pair of Lindsay Popeo and Meredith Waters in the quarterfinal round of the doubles bracket after receiving a first round bye.

Freshman Valentina Gonzalez and Delia Maier also both won their opening singles matches before falling in the quarterfinals of the "A" draw.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks dominated the "B" singles draw as Sophie Hartman, Keelin Sills and Taylor Nokes all advanced to the semifinals while going a combined 4-0.  Hartman and Sills also received byes.

Nadia Alden also won her first match, 6-3, 6-2 over Lane Reddick of CSU Pueblo before falling to Waters in the quarterfinals.

In doubles, Catalina Ballon and Delia Maier as well as Gonzalez/Hartman both went 2-0 to reach the semifinals alongside Brilhante and Rodriguez.  Nokes and Sills also won their opening match but were downed in the quarterfinals.

The tournament, which includes players from four schools will resume at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning. Women's Singles-A
